For our second day in Florida, we decided to do something that wasn’t Disney related. We all needed a break and Gatorland was a welcome change. Doug had been there as a kid and was super excited to be able to take our kids there (on that note, Grandpa was looking forward to it, too).
Obviously, the main attraction at Gatorland is alligators, but there were a lot of other animals to see there, too.
We had the opportunity to get our photo taken with a gator and a snake. I was a little leery…but I think Aaron was in a worse position than me! (Forgive me, it’s a cell phone photo of a photo).
One of my favorite areas was the aviary. It was feeding time, so you got to go in and feed the birds. The definitely knew it was chow time! They were all over us! Especially Doug…they liked his shoes.
While we were there I was on the lookout for a fake gator. I had heard stories about Doug when he was little getting scared by this fake gator at Gatorland and was interested to see if it was still there. It was a longshot, it had been 25 years since his last visit. But, lo and behold, it was there!
Towards the end of our visit we saw that there was a splash pool for the kids. The girls didn’t have suits with us, but they got wet anyway. Oh well! It was vacation!
It was off to the resort after that (wet kids in tow). Doug, the kids and I decided to check out the pool while Grandpa rested. No photos from the pool, but fun was had by all!
Stayed tuned for Day3: Animal Kingdom!
